  • To conduct research to inform conversations

Suggested Methods / Examples of practice

  • Meet one-on-one routinely with MSW leaders with specific agenda items

  • Engage in an actionable engagement discourse with assigned tasks and follow ups

  • Maintain open communication built on trust and focused on the mission

Scope & Requirements

  • Flexible, determined as needed

  • 1-to-1 conversations scheduled as necessary, suggested timeframe: once every 4-5 weeks

Key Results

  • Conversations inform MSW’s development with best practices and key strategies

  • Ideas are explored and clarified through collaboration

  • Partnerships enhance community value and impact

Community Advisory Circle


Role Type
Volunteer, in a group environment

Objectives

  • With fellow members from the community, meet to brainstorm and bounce ideas

  • To offer insights, perspectives, and solutions toward organizational developments

  • As a team, consider the bigger picture of San Francisco and the Bay Area as it relates to the mission to inform action steps

  • To suggest strategies that lift work and support people

Suggested methods / Examples of practice

  • One designated group facilitator would send out a meeting agenda, facilitate conversation, and report back to MSW leadership

  • The CAC may only focus on two priority topics and then open up the discussion

  • Conversations are supportive of differing opinions, perspectives, and beliefs while focusing on solution-oriented action

Scope & Requirements

  • This group meets every 5 weeks

Key Results

  • As a vital link between the organization and the greater communities it exists to uplift. To ensure Mission StageWorks remains inclusive, accessible, and aligned with the 

  • To offer wisdom and feedback 

  • The work of the CAC keeps the organization accountable and more connected with the greater community

  • By including more voices, the CAC develops more opportunities for solutions, feedback, and local impact

Strategic Development Team


Role Type
Volunteer, in a group environment

Objectives

  • Offer strategic input on organizational growth, policy-making, planning, and mission alignment

  • Serve as a thought partner to staff and leadership on key initiatives including education models, productions, artist development, and capital projects

  • Advise on the integration of equity, access, and inclusion across all areas of the organization

  • Support institutional goals through team-based counsel and collaborative brainstorming.

Scope & Expectations

  • Members are theatermakers, artistic leaders, educators, arts administrators, cultural organizers, and philanthropic advisors with a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in the arts

  • Works with executive artistic director

  • Participation in monthly one-hour strategy meetings, with pre-distributed agendas and materials. Attendance is not required at every meeting, but consistent engagement is encouraged

  • Members contribute insight, questions, and feedback in a spirit of generosity, curiosity, and shared vision
