Description:
The San Francisco Neo-Futurists present our latest long-form play: We Bought A Gun! Written and performed by jeb and Willie Caldwell, current and former Artistic Directors of The San Francisco Neo-Futurists, respectively.
Set in the Bay Area in 2026, We Bought A Gun! weaves historical, cultural, and personal threads through its central narrative: a couple deciding to buy a gun together for the first time. Intimate and occasionally intense (but never macabre), We Bought A Gun! brings the audience beyond the fourth wall and into the dialogue, inviting a communal exploration of compassion, compromise, pain, and purpose. A departure from The Infinite Wrench format of 30 plays in 60 minutes, this Beyond-the-Wrench production is a full play that adheres to the theatrical tenants of Neo-Futurism: we are who we are, we are where we are, we are doing what we're doing, the time is now.

Between its 1993 Broadway premiere and its 2017 National Theatre revival, Angels’ mythical status has expanded, onstage and off. But to director and actor John Fisher, this play is best experienced when presented up close, with its human heartbreaks and joys mere feet from the audience.
“[Theatre Rhinoceros] is ‘IMAX’ theatre - it’s immediate, it’s right there, you could touch the actors. It’s always been staged as an epic, as opposed to a lived experience. And I don’t believe it was written as an epic, it was written as a ‘fantasia’ - and fantasy is immersive, not witnessed.”
